Apples

During the month of September we also did a unit on apples.  The students made homemade apple sauce, apple dump cake, participated in apple taste testing and analysis, an apple study and comparison, read many books on apples including the study of the apple life cycle.

Making homemade apple sauce....yum!

This was a rainbow we saw during lunch one day in September.  It was nice to see.

I read the story of the house with no doors or windows and a star inside.  We then sliced the apple to see the star inside.  The students made an art project with the apples after they drew themselves at the bottom of the sheet.  We read the book Apples On Top with this project.

The students made a book shaped like an apple with all of the steps of the apple life cycle in it.  I found a sheet on-line with the life cycle they were able to color and cut out to make their own book.  They had a good time with this.

As we dissected the apples we learned about the different parts of an apple.  Each student was able to choose their apple color and label each part of their apple as they constructed it out of paper.
